Make My Story's Mission

Children across the country have fallen drastically behind in their reading abilities since 2020. Before 2020 only about 25-30% of students were reading below their grade level. Now that number has skyrocketed to over 50%. It is time we do something to correct this ship before an entire generation is functionally semi-illiterate. 

I have witnessed this disturbing trend first hand because I have been volunteering my time to teach reading at my local middle school for 4 years. Since 2020, so many kids have fallen behind, and for many, it can be difficult to find any motivation to get back on track.

Make My Story is here to fix that.

Every child I’ve worked with in my time tutoring has had amazing potential and perseverance when it comes to building their reading skills. However, I began to notice that many of the lessons and reading work laid out for them quickly became boring and unstimulating. That’s when it started to hit me. I knew exactly how to bring excitement back into their learning experience. That is how Make My Story was born. We focus on helping kids all across the country find a passion for reading by bringing their own stories to life, springing straight from their imagination.
